Bailey
9/4/1999-12/6/2007
The picture of Bailey was taken at a rehab/retirement home when she was a therapy dog. Being a therapy dog was her sole purpose in life. The patients always looked forward to seeing her and would fight over who's turn it was to see her first. She had an amazing ability to touch people. A man with severe MS who was barely able to move from a stroke, began to get movement back into his hand and arms just from petting her, which she insisted on (she allowed no excuses). The most amazing thing ever was a lady in her mid thirties that was in the hospital due to a severe brain injury. She had not spoken since the injury and had very little movement. Bailey loved to see her and knew right where her room was. After 6 months of weekly visits she said her first word and it was "Bailey'. She began to slowly use more words, but only to Bailey. Then one day we went to see her and she was no longer there. The staff said she had improved so much that she was moved to a group home to continue her rehab. Bailey still checked that room every time we went to the care facility. She always looked sad to not see her special friend. Bailey was the best dog in the entire world and we miss her every day.
