Johnson
10/31/1996-8/29/2009
Johnson was a gorgeous fellow who was obviously not "just a dog." One of his very loving humans, Tom, wrote this touching memorial to him: Johnson was born on October 31, 1996 (Halloween) and passed August 29, 2009. Johnson was larger than life from the beginning - so it's only natural that he was born on a holiday. Living with Johnson was living with a celebrity. Everywhere we went he stopped traffic. Some people would take pictures, some would shriek but most would just light up with a big smile. He had this reaction literally up to the day he died. You also had to touch him - that incredible fur was too soft too resist. He even smelled great. Johnson lived to walk. We used to do 5-10 miles a week. Johnson wouldn't just go for a walk. A walk was where he got the news and to his inquisitive mind you had to check out every smell/story. So we started very slowly until he got full on smells. Johnson viewed himself as a person. He barely paid attention to other dogs or other wildlife and did his best to never wear a leash. He had the most beautiful eyes - overflowing with love. He had an incredibly powerful personality and force of will. He let you know what he wanted and he was too gosh darn cute to deny. Johnson lived to be with you. He and I had a deal - we did everything together that we possibly could. We'd take him to outdoor restaurants if they would let us. We just couldn't stand to be separated. We ultimately reached maximum love potential - you couldn't love each other any more than we did. You can see that Johnson was, indeed, a very fortunate dog, never knowing a moment of hunger, fear or want of any kind-we wish all pets could be as fortunate. He will be remembered always.
