Rupert
1/11/1995-9/9/2009
We had to say good bye to a dear friend today. Rupert was so fortunate to have found a good human to spend his time with. Here are her sweet words about him: Rupert came into the shelter about 7 years ago? as a snarling frightened stray. He'd been running around Snohomish for months and no one could get near him until a city councilman finally trapped him. Then he tried to find a group to take him, but they were all afraid and said he'd likely be put down. He came to us and I convinced Linda that he was just scared, and we should take him. I put him in with another dog that was easy going and within 3 days he let me pet him and cut off his old collar. It was macramé with the name "Scoob" knotted into it with beads. It had grown too tight to take over his head. After that he decided he was mine and never gave anyone else a chance. He was at the shelter for over a year before I adopted him. He was definitely was a one-person dog and was very leery of strangers. I also let him "pick" his new name. I just started saying names that had the "oo" sound and he wagged his tail at "Rupert". He was a great companion. He wanted to be with me all the time and I frequently took him on outings. I'll miss him so much.
